The Institute of Theoretical Physics conducts research and offers graduate programs in the following fields:

• Elementary Particle Physics and Cosmology
• Theoretical Astrophysics
• Condensed Matter Physics

One of the principal goals of the Institute is to promote fundamental physics in Georgia. It conducts research in fundamental areas of modern theoretical physics and offers general and specialized academic courses at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels. The Institute centers offer master’s and doctoral degree programmes to students interested in Elementary Particle Physics and Cosmology, as well as in Theoretical Astrophysics.

The Institute closely cooperates with leading scientific centers abroad.
